paper_filed meaning of filingHistoryItem

Hello,

I have a question about the meaning of the flag “paper_filed” of the “filingHistoryItem” resource. Here in the documentation it is said that “true” indicates that this is a paper filing. In case of accounts, does this mean that the accounts were submitted in paper only and there is no electronic document of the accounts?

Thank you!
Tatiana

@tarasova

For documents with a paper_filed = true flag then the document was submitted on paper to Companies House for processing. These documents, including accounts, are then scanned to create a PDF which is available for download.

In the future we plan to release the XBRL/iBXRL version of accounts, which is the electronic format of electronic accounts submitted to Companies House, which will provide access to the accounts data rather than an image.

Hope this clarifies

Thanks

@mfairhurst

Thank you for your answer. So, if accounts were submitted on paper to Companies House, they are (and will be) available in the future only as PDFs. Is it correct?

Yes that is correct, as long as PDF remains as the technology of choice in the future!

Ok, now it’s clear. Thank you for the reply!
