Intermittent 429 Download error "too many requests"

Hi CoHo,

We use your API to download company accounts. We’ve been using it successfully for a few months, and have built our downloader in a way so that it stays below your rate limits.

However, in the last few days we’ve noticed it only partially working: We’re getting this error message a lot:-

Error getting filing history: Failed with error code: 429 | Reason: Too Many Requests
and
" Failed to download PDF with error code: 429 | Reason: Too Many Requests"

But, we’re also getting some successful downloads in the same job.

E.g. If we run a big batch of a thousand requests, we will get approximately 200 successes and 800 fails.

Interestingly, the ratio of successes to fails seems to be in integers, such as 1:4 (as above) or 2:7, etc.

I’m not familiar with the mechanics of how your API service is set up, but it’s as if the incoming requests are distributed over 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 ‘nodes’, and some of those work perfectly fine, and some aren’t working at all.

Are you having problems with your system at the moment? If so, that’s fine: we will stop checking our code and wait for your system to come back to full strength. But please do let us know.

Thanks & best regards,

Mark

If you are getting 429 responses, you are over your rate limit and you will continue to receive that until you fall back under that. The rate limit is a rolling window.
Please check your remaining requests by inspecting the headers X-Ratelimit-Limit, X-Ratelimit-Remain, X-Ratelimit-Reset and X-Ratelimit-Window.
