504 Gateway Timeouts

We recently started to see an increase in the frequency of gateway timeouts (HTTP 504) when submitting officer changes e.g. AP01, CH01 etc.

Endpoint: https://xmlgw.companieshouse.gov.uk/v1-0/xmlgw/Gateway

After a few attempts we will usually then receive a “Duplicate submission” response. Obviously a 5xx type error would indicate some sort of origin server issue and we wouldn’t expect the document to have been received.

Do you know the cause of the 504 errors and if the document has been received is it possible instead to issue a 200 OK response?

I did follow up and post on the XML forum but it is still pending approval after 5 days.

You might want to try emailing xml@companieshouse.gov.uk, technical issues sent there tend to get escalated to the appropriate person.
