API Search seems to be down - Getting 403 and 502

The search service seems down . 403 was being received in response to search queries but logging into https://identity.company-information.service.gov.uk/oauth2/user/signin shows a 502 Gateway error . I believe there was an identity service related issue a few weeks ago which prevented users from logging in, so this might be related.

Can this be looked into please

We are seeing the same issues reported since 8:14am … @MArkWilliams tagging you for awareness in case you can provide some update on what is happening.


There was a release at 08:55 that caused a number of 5XX errors for a few minutes. It’s all back ok now. If you have anything more specific, and later than 09:01, please let us know.

We are still seeing errors and as mentioned it started 8:14am, so a bit earlier than the 08:55am you mentioned the release was pushed.

Yep , still seeing 403s.
Also, https://identity.company-information.service.gov.uk/oauth2/user/signin still shows a 502 Gateway error when signing in to the developer account

What type of errors?
I have just called the API a few times, no issues. The CHS web service uses the AOI aswell and there are no issues reported there.
There was a firewall rule configuration change at 08:00hrs this morning. What type of errors are you getting? are you getting ANY data from us?

We’re just getting 403: Forbidden across the board. This is from multiple locations with multiple keys. No data being returned.


We have also been getting 403 errors to all

GET https://api.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/

requests since about 8 AM.

We’ve been seeing those errors from our production server but if we attempt in a local machine it seems to work ok.

We have the same - works fine locally but not fine on prod.

@MArkWilliams we’re also seeing 4xx response codes from https://xmlgw.companieshouse.gov.uk/v1-0/xmlgw/Gateway.

We’re not getting past the handshake so I’m guessing it is probably infrastructure related?

Can you please provide further details on the firewall configuration change made this morning? Is there anything we need to configure on our side?

No, that is the XML gateway, not for this forum.

Same here we are getting 403’s on every api call
example @ 09:33 UK time:
Could not retrieve result from remote endpoint [https://api.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/12556773], The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.

We’re also seeing the same for the company profile API endpoint. Just wanted to confirm that it isn’t restricted to the API - seems to be across the board for CH services.

There was a firewall change that looks like it may have blocked some cloud addresses.
Please hang on while I speak to the network team to ‘fix’ this…
